Strategos

Hi,

Finally got around to my first officer stand for the Impetus Antigonids. While I generally play with attached command, and include command figures on most of my stands, I like the idea of a marker to indicate the presence of the commander on the field.

Impetus Unit Type: Command
Base Size: 3cm x 3cm
Manufacturer: Old Glory 15mm, Xyston 15mm

I figure this guy will eventually end up as a subordinate commander to Antigonus and Demetrios, but for now, he can lead my 300 points of completed stands. Model on foot is Xyston, mounted model is OG.

I realize the fellow on horseback is a bit of an anachronism. The Corinthian helmet he's sporting had more or less fallen out of use by the time of the successors. I considered using a head swap, but frankly, Corinthian helmets rock, and I wanted to get this guy on the table.

I seem to be on a bit of a command kick lately. I just finished up a set of command stands for the 6mm SYW French as well. Detailed pictures of them will likely serve as next Sunday's post.

Next up should be a battle report from our first game of Maurice. I've got one scheduled for Wednesday night. I'm still playing around with national advantages / tweaking my list, but I'll try to get as detailed a report up as I can. Until then . . .

  1. Magnificent! This 15mm looks like a 28mm by the level of detail and shading you put down.

And I do like the idea of a separate command stand. Even though I've build units with command stands in them, I'll probably circle back and paint separate stands also.

  7. Excellent painted figures! And this for 15mm figures, the details are so sharp. The shield pattern is an eyecatcher for me!
