Hi,
Finished up the front base for my second unit of Spartans.
Impetus Unit Type: FP
Base Size: 8cm x 3cm
Manufacturer: 15mm Xyston, AB
These are all from the Xyston range, except for the general, which is from AB. He's slightly larger than even the biggest of the Xyston, but I figure that's okay for a "big man" figure.
The original AB general is holding a vine stave, which I swapped out for a spear, and added a grounded shield. I figures he's giving the lads a pre-battle harangue. The black shields I ripped off from a 28mm unit that appears in the 4th Impetus supplement. I liked the look, and I wanted to be able to easily distinguish between units on the field.
I've got a planned test game for muskets and tomahawks next week, so I've been basing up dome figs for that. Next in the painting queue will likely be either some of the M&T french, or the last cruiser for DW.

Very nice! Like 28's. Simon
ReplyDeleteGreat work as always.
ReplyDeleteVery impressive!!
ReplyDeletePhil.
Excellent, I love it! Black can be hard to pull off in 15mm but you've done it here.
ReplyDeleteAre you now doing WH 40K? I see an Ork with a MG in the background.
Not really ;) I have a ton of ork stuff, and occasionally paint a bit when I get to feeling nostalgic. While there's always plenty of opportunities to play 40k, I find it's pretty far down the list of stuff on which I want to spend gaming time.
DeleteVery nice! I like the big man, your 15mm look like 28mm :)
ReplyDeleteTo get this kind of detail on 15mm is truly fantastic. I like the big green guy in the background:)

ReplyDeleteThanks gang. I do have to give a fair bit of credit to the sculpting. Both the Xyston and the AB take paint well.
