Horse Soldier . . .

. . . ish.  With me still sick-ish, the Beloved sick, and Puddin' apparently coming down with it, plans for Wednesday's game have gone awry.  I have, however, finally finished up the last touches on the dismounted infantry for the planned Soviet force.  First up is the cossack officer, in game a 2nd lieutenant and his minder.

I also finished some other "small teams", including a second PTRD team, this time in cossack uniform:

A second medium mortar, again manned  by cossacks:

And spotters for both mortars:

I also finished up another squad of plain cossacks:

There's a fair number of conversions in there, some just paint, but also more than a few head swaps as well.  I'm generally pleased with how they turned out.  Now I just need to finish a tank, a truck, and re-base some cavalry, and I'm good to go with 1000 points.

  3. Great painting, comrade. And you're a very brave man to headswap in 15mm!

And I have an East Front book for you to read over the winter...it's one of my all time favorites. Guy Sajer's The Forgotten Soldier. A two word book review of it would be "sheer madness."
