
These sorts of units form the backbone of the French cavalry, and although they lack the option of musketry, do better in close combat than French infantry.

That said, they're not more effective than their Brit / Hanoverian counterparts, and they require support if throwing them in is going to be more than a gamble.

At this point, I only need some artillery, officers, and maybe another unit or two to have enough painted for a Maurice force. That is apparently en route. I'm not going to be back in the painting routine before the end of the week, but I should think there's at least a couple of Maurice trial runs coming up in the next few weeks. In the meantime, there's a special post going up on Friday or Saturday, depending on time constraints.
