Winning. Also, html, and ninjas.

Hi,

Been plugging away on some Blood Bowl guys, but they're not quite ready for prime time, so I thought I'd gloat instead.

You may recall a few posts back I mentioned that the Laughing Ferret was having a give-away, and that I had entered.  Well, faith and begora, as it turns out, I was one of the lucky few who's names were drawn as winners.  My bit of the loot was this:

002

A rather spiffy mint sprue of, I believe, Mordor orcs from GW's Lord of the Rings game.  Now, as it happens, I've had a bit of a thing for this range ever since I first saw the Elrond figure from the Fellowship series. but I've never found cause or opportunity to paint them, mostly because there was no one to play the LotR game with, and partly because the game itself never really sparked me up.

Now, however, there's hope.  My favorite "guys with swords" ruleset, Impetus, does have a working version of a fantasy version kicking around, and there are a number of rather creative people out there who have already begun working on adapting it to be used for LotR.

So, FL, with an option for Long Spear then?

In my Drawers of Shame, I've got tucked away both the beginnings of a Rohan army, and several blisters of Dunlending raiders.  Add in these orks, and there's enough to spur me to start up a matched set of armies.  Many thanks to the Ferret that Laughs, for enabling yet another (probably over-) ambitious painting project ;)

In other news, I've been mucking around at Codeacademy, because blogging.  So far, it's been pretty basic stuff (although I did finally find out for what the "m" in html stands), but it's dead easy to use, can be done in little "schedule spackling" increments, and promises to be kind of cool over the long term.  Maybe when the blog counter bug thing that goes around strikes, I'll be able to fix it myself ;)

Wednesday, we're running the final test game for ChrisB's "OMG, that's freaking awesome" participation game of Ronin (based on the Seven Samurai, bonus pics of the bandits here).  While my track record of gettting out to games has been iffy of late, I'm really hoping to show, partly to help out (Nick the Lemming and I having been saving ourselves for this, so we can give a "new guy" perspective), and partly because the game is really looking cool.  If you're going to Kegscon, they're running it in the afternoon session.  Check it out, it's going to be great.
