Hexeris

Hi,

Finished this guy up this morning.  This is (p)Hexeris, one of the first three warlocks in the Skorne faction for Hordes.

012

Hexi has been my favourite warlock for Skorne since I first set eyes on his.  He's a bit of a generic caster, doing a little bit of everything, with some solid offensive potential, and a range of circumstantial, but useful, abilities.

As per usual, pictures are showing up some flaws in the paintwork, but he'll do for game-play.  There are a ton of details on the Skorne models, and I find as I progress through one, I find myself increasing willing to settle for a decent, rather than top-notch job.

I'm also finding the matte coat I'm using seems to both dull the figures, and very faintly, "cloud" them.  I may be putting it on too thick, so I guess further experimentation is required.

Next up for Skorne will be a Krea, but that's facing stiff competition from the Ayyubids sitting on my desk, and some freshly arrived Blue Moon F&IW figures.  Even money on what gets the brush first . . . .

  1. That is really good brush work. I find that I balance the amount of time it takes to paint a model with the amount of time it is actually going to be on the battle field.

As an aside, that model in front of the 15mm behind it made it look like a giant robot. Messed with my mind for a few seconds.

  2. I am perpetually thrilled to see these pictures come up. Simply delighted every time.

I'd like to introduce them to some gators, when we have the time. (Won't be a friendly meeting, sadly. Gators are ornery--all them teeth and no toothbrush.)

  3. Wow! Lovely understated brushwork. Those Soviet infantry in the background don't stand a chance.

  4. First of all, I can't find any flaws and I looked hard! Lovely work here and I commend you on your ability to jump from 6mm to 15mm to Sci-Fi to WW II to ancients and so on. I don't even know what scale this figure is but it is larger than 28mm!

    1. It's 28mm, but the figure itself is a little bigger - Hexeris is a big guy ;)
